Islam: A Religion of Peace? Kahn vs. Gaffney Debate

The Harbour League hosted a spirited debate of whether Islam is a religion of peace that challenged assumptions of those on both sides of this contentious question of our time. Gaffney is passionate and articulate, but Kahn is steady and wins over many with his reasoning and calm demeanor.

SUHAIL KHAN

Is currently serving as the Assistant to the Secretary for Policy under U.S. Secretary Mary Peters at the U.S. Department of Transportation where he was awarded the Secretary's Team Award in 2005 and the Secretary's Gold Medal for Outstanding Achievement in 2007. Suhail serves on the Board of the American Conservative Union, the Indian American Republican Council, and the Islamic Free Market Institute.

Is the Founder and President of the Center for Security Policy in Washington, D.C. Mr. Gaffney contributes actively to the security policy debate in his capacity as a weekly columnist for the Washington Times, and TownHall.com. He is a featured weekly contributor to Hugh Hewitt's nationally syndicated radio program. In addition, he appears often on national and international television and radio news programs. Over the years, his op-ed. articles have appeared in such publications as: The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The New Republic, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Christian Science Monitor, The Los Angeles Times, National Review, Newsday, American Legion Magazine, and Commentary.
